                                       JUNE 2008 - PRESS RELEASE

                                                IFE
Poland 2008 takes off!
A Launch Pad for New International Business!

IFE POLAND, the country's leading International food, drink and hospitality trade event, opened its doors for the 6th successful year running last month; providing a much needed platform for exporters to set up their business activities in Central and Eastern Europe.

The event was supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and McLane Polska – Poland’s largest food and drink distributor.

With grocery sales in Poland reaching a record €38.9 billion, and consumer spending expected to increase by 4.29% year-on-year, IFE Poland has proved an essential starting point for companies wishing to access this lucrative market.

The show was a hub of activity with almost 4000 trade individuals - many meeting for the first time - discussing products and striking deals! The quality of visitors continues to make this event a proven route to market; 73% of visitors came from the distribution and importer sectors, 3 out of 5 visitors had direct purchasing authority and a staggering 4 out of 5 visitors were Chairman or Managing Director status.

Amongst the new comers to the event this year was the Chilean Fresh Fruit Association. Lianne Jones, the association’s European Field Manager, comments,

The level of interest was extremely high: we had around 30 representatives from Poland’s leading fresh fruit and vegetable importers attending. All of them were interested in sourcing their produce from Chile. We have been getting excellent results recently in Poland, and after talking face-to-face with the importers about their requirements and how we can work together, the outlook is very positive

Poland is regarded as one of the leading Central and Eastern European destinations for FDI, attracting over one third of all foreign investments to the region. Business Monitor International reports,

“The Polish food industry has attracted significant foreign investment over recent years. International interest in the food & drink industry stems from the country's large market, export opportunities to other Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries and comparatively low-paid workforce.”

IFE Poland provides the perfect platform for foreign food and drink businesses to launch into this rewarding market. For more information about taking part in this successful business event, please contact philippa.christer@montex.co.uk or iona.smith@montex.co.uk
